Nix Tank Company proudly supports Challenged Child & Friends

One of the key focus points of Nix Tank Company is to assist with various local charities and agencies in need of support. When duty calls, we are there to answer the call and help out our fellow man.

A local charity that Nix Tank Company is proud to support is Challenged Child & Friends, an agency that exists to serve children with disabilities and their typical peers through state-of-the-art educational, therapeutic, nursing and family counseling services in an integrated environment.

Challenged child recently relayed some wonderful information and success stories about how the support from Nix Tank Company has helped directly impact the lives of some children.

Charlie

When three-year-old "Charlie" first came to Challenged Child and Friends he did not speak and he was unable to effectively communicate. Now he is saying a few words and using sign language to communicate. He loves school and really gets into art. Most days his artwork is all over him as well. Your support has opened up a whole new world for "Charlie" and other children like him who struggle with special needs.

Billy

"Billy's" leg was amputated when he was one day old. With the help of early intervention, he was crawling at eight months. At nine months, he stood for 20 minutes with his new artificial leg. Now he is learning to walk!

Sam

This fall three-year-old "Sam" walked with the aid of adaptive equipment. Last year he couldn’t even hold up his head! The grin on his face was reflected in the face of his grandmother, who is caring for "Sam" while his daddy is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan next month.

Julie

Three-year-old "Julie" was hit by a drunk driver, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. This month she stood for the first time since the accident with aid of adaptive equipment and support from her therapist.

Katie

When "Katie" first came to Challenged Child and Friends she cried most of the day and didn't interact with the other children. Then she began to use the stander and, as described by her teacher, it was like she "woke up". In the stander "Katie" started interacting with the other children. Her new friends began to play with her when she was in the stander as well, often hiding behind it and popping up to surprise her. Adaptive equipment helped "Katie" awaken to the world.
